A national charity bringing community and companionship to Civil Servants in retirement.

You may not have heard about us before, but The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) has been running charitable services built around friendship and advice for 60 years.

So whether you’re a Civil Servant at the start of your career, or currently eyeing your transition into retirement, you can sign up to support the work we do.

Our organisation was founded on our local community group network sixty years ago that was set up across the country to provide forums for friendship for former Civil Servants and their dependents.

We’re always keen to recruit a new cohort of community volunteers willing to help us open new groups around the UK, volunteering is a great way to develop your inter-personal skills and make new friends!

And remember to make the most of the opportunities available to you if you are existing DWP staff  with the Community 10,000 (C10K) team, or by joining a befriending scheme (see below).


New Online Social Group

Our new online social group is open to all CSRF members and the wider Civil Service community.
First session: Wednesday 15th April, 12.30pm–1pm
Theme: Karaoke & Musical Games
Hosted monthly via Zoom — perfect for friendly, relaxed conversations from home or the office.

Planning for Retirement Workshops

Our Planning for Retirement sessions support staff through one of life’s major transitions.
The workshops focus on:

  • Practical guidance
  • Wellbeing, identity and routine
  • Confidence and future planning

Departments can book sessions for their teams — a meaningful way to invest in staff wellbeing at any career stage.


CSRF Ambassador Network

We’re building a network of Ambassadors across departments.
Ambassadors will:

  • Promote CSRF services
  • Support fundraising
  • Encourage engagement with workshops and online groups
  • Help us connect with even more people
