Bike Week - 10th - 16th June 2024

Gear up for an exhilarating ride as Bike Week 2024 approaches – 10th – 16th June 2024

Bike Week is the UK’s biggest awareness-raising moment of the year for cycling and a chance to celebrate the positives that cycling can bring to our health and wellbeing, and the environment.

Be a #BikeHero this Bike Week:

  • Save the planet – reduce emissions, improve air quality and protect nature.
  • Save money - cycling is one of the most cost-effective ways to get around.
  • Save yourself - get some fresh air, freedom and a great workout for your mind and body.

In Quarry House, we are focussing on getting people into cycling (again). From Monday – Wednesday, the Collaboration Zone on the second floor will have resources such as bike security, maps and a guide to the Leeds-Liverpool Canal Towpath.

On Tuesday 11th, try a “virtual commute” on a static bike in the Forum Leisure Centre gym. Available from 7.30am – 1.30pm, please register on arrival at the Leisure Centre desk at the East entrance of Quarry House.

On Wednesday Morning at 10am, if you are doing an active commute, please join us for a “Biker’s Breakfast” Social in the Collaboration Zone. Please contact joanne.hindmarsh@dhsc.gov.uk by CoP Monday 10th if you plan to attend. We will be collating top tips on cycling in Leeds.

30-minute taster spin cycling classes will be held on Wednesday 12th June at 12.15 and 1pm.  Places are limited so please book in advance by contacting the Forum Leisure Centre on 0300 091 7394 – you do not have to be a member to sign up.

These activities are free, with an optional donation to the Brownlee Foundation, which encourages and enables children to be more active. Anyone who registers for a gym event will be entered into a prize draw to win a week’s free pass to the Forum Gym.

Happy cycling! 😊
