Golf Society Events 2024
Hi Everyone
Welcome to the HASSRA East of England Golf Society and our Calendar for 2024. Our aim is to involve as many golfers within HASSRA as possible, no matter your ability, or your gender, we are especially eager to hear from any Ladies golfers in HASSRA East of England. If you play golf and wish to come along to our 1st society day, please see details at the bottom. Please also see below an outline of the way we are organised, if you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me, my details are at the bottom.
· We have 5 society golf days, a society golf break (2 days golf, 1 night in a hotel), and we play in 2 matches each year. In addition, we have two yearly competitions, The HASSRA Shield and HASSRA Eclectic, the winners of the Shield play in a national pairs event with the Society Captain.
· For our society days, we play 18 holes – stableford format. With a roll and hot beverages on arrival, and 2-course meal after with prizes. As a member of HASSRA you will receive a subsidy of ½ the cost of the green fees on the day, you may also claim travelling expenses for the event.
· As for matches, all players may put their names down for the matches and the Captain selects the team. Team selection is based purely on players appearances in society events, and their results in those events, There is a maximum playing handicap for all matches (36 shots received).
· One match is against other HASSRA regions, the other is against the Home Office. If selected, there is a match fee which is the cost of the meal after the match, again travelling expenses are claimable.
· We run our own society handicaps using WHS (World Handicap Scheme), these handicaps are used in all society days.

This year’s opening event will be at Bungay & Waveney GC on Monday 25th March. A good spring course so I am led to believe.
What the club says: The course sits in a horseshoe- shaped loop formed by the River Waveney, and is an inland heathland course, with plenty of gorse and a mixture of pine and birch trees. Set in only 84 acres of well-drained land, it is a very comfortable course to walk and rarely suffers from excessive water. The greens are quite small and well-protected, and the challenge is therefore in accuracy rather than length. In early spring the course is at its best, with the abundance of gorse in flower and some lovely views over the surrounding marshes. There is a variety of wildlife to distract you from your game, and skylarks can often be heard singing overhead.
The 1st tee will be at 11:04, with Coffee/Tea and rolls available from 09:45, after the golf there will be a 2-course meal with a choice of Scampi or Steak & Ale pie with chips & peas, and for desert Apple Crumble or Lemon Roulade, prizes will be presented as soon as everyone has had some food.
The cost will be £42.50 for HASSRA EoE members and £57.50 for guests.
