How a Business Unit Grant helped us.

A personal account of how a Business Unit Grant can foster a positive Team Spirit.

Our team works across the UK with bases in England, Wales and Scotland.  To make a forthcoming conference more interesting, we decided to apply for a Business Unit Grant to add a sense of fun and competitiveness to our event.

There were 30 of us in total so we planned a variety of activities to suit everyone.  We purchased hot and cold beverages and biscuits to make everyone feel welcome.  The funding also made it possible to provide a £20 gift voucher that was awarded randomly to one attendee.

Personal experiences of the positive benefits of HASSRA membership were shared within the group to promote HASSRA further to non-members, and gift bags containing promotional items were handed out.  The HASSRA Team showcased the amazing offers and benefits of membership and we’re pretty sure we recruited a few new members on the day!

To round up the conference, we held an Escape Room type activity with £100 of prize money split between the winning team. This definitely increased excitement, competitiveness and teamwork.

• The HASSRA funding was a great touch to the event and helped us all to feel more valued in the workplace. The activity was a great team building exercise and a lot of fun, and the cash prize was a bonus!

• I really liked the game; it was good fun and got everyone engaged & working together which was the whole point of the conference.

• Having refreshments was also lovely as it provided a key location that people could gather and say hello & as it was the first time some people had met was really useful.

• The goodie bags were a nice touch & well received, my knowledge of what was available through HASSRA has increased.

• Thank you again for taking the time to source the funding for the good of the team, if absolutely made a difference

• In my opinion the HASSRA funding made the event, people were so engaged it honestly went such a long way in pulling the team together. The talk HASSRA delivered was fantastic! it really showcased the benefits available to people and I’m sure served as a reminder to many about the amazing discounts we have available. Thank you so much for organising it, it was absolutely brilliant, best conference I’ve been to.

• Having refreshments was a big help especially when we were there for 2 days. I’m obviously happy about the prize money lol but I do think it made everyone want to get involved even if we were tired at the end of the conference so yeah it really helped am tempted to sign up.
