Spend Spend Spend - local theatre production

Spend

At the Lyric Theatre, Dinnington from 8 to 12 October at 7.15pm with a 2.15pm matinee on 12 October

Spend Spend Spend is a musical set in Yorkshire. It tells the true story of Viv Nicholson who, in 1961, won a fortune on the football pools and famously said she was going to 'Spend Spend Spend'.

Does money bring you happiness? Find out how Viv handles it - and what happens to a penniless Castleford housewife who can suddenly have anything she wants. This is a cracking musical, fast paced and bitter-sweet with some fabulously catchy songs.

Spend Spend Spend premiered in 1998 at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood.

It won the Best Musical of the Year award beating The Lion King and Mamma Mia.

It opened in the West End in 1999 starring Barbara Dickson who won the Olivier for best actress in a musical.

NB This musical contains mild bad language and adult themes. It is not suitable for young children.
