Autumn Leaves - a woodland walk from Bramhope - 19th October
Autumn Leaves - a woodland walk from Bramhope
Saturday 19 October - 10.30/45
The Walk: This 5-mile walk starts with a steep descent to Pool, with fine views across Wharfedale. Walking poles strongly advised for this section ,as it is very steep and potentially slippery. From Pool we ascend to the wooded quarries of Old Pool Bank, then on into the forest of Caley Deer Park where bridleways and footpaths meander in all directions. Hopefully the trees will be ablaze with autumn colours. In the forest we will encounter several wood carvings on the Chevin Heritage Trail, including the resident caveman "Stone Age Steve" - photo attached. When we eventually find our way out of the woods the walk continues across open countryside (fields with stiles) with pleasant views, back to Bramhope and the opportunity for refreshments, including food, at the Fox and Hounds. https://foxandhoundsbramhope.co.uk/menus/
Meeting Time and Place: Meet at 10.30 for a 10.45 start in the car park in Old Lane, Bramhope - immediately behind the Fox and Hounds pub car park. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/1tLAK9hUL7e7Di687 - There are TOILETS in the car park! 😊 No facilities on the walk itself, but as it is mostly through woodland there are ample opportunities for discreet dashes into the bushes.
Clothing: The terrain may be muddy and uneven in parts so appropriate footwear will be needed. Given the unpredictable weather, please bring/wear suitable clothing/layers.
Lunch: Walkers can bring a packed lunch if they don’t want to eat at The Fox and Hounds.
HASSRA subs (Y&H members only) - Travel costs (train, fuel, lunch) can be reimbursed via the expences tab in you Live account - lunch cashback if purchased at the pub after the walk to a maximum of £5 per member )proof of purchase required)
