South East Running Championship 2024

We are continuing with our “virtual” format this year and hope this will encourage members to take part. Last year Prizes were won by runners & walkers alike – but you “have got to be in it to win it” as they say!

As with England Athletics, there will be MALE and FEMALE categories – and the distance will be 5 kilometres for everyone. Teams as below and Veterans are anyone aged 65 or over on the day of the run

The competition is open to all members of HASSRA South East and to take part just follow the instructions below:

  1. Enter via HASSRA Live – include your name, Male or Female and HASSRA club (and indicate if you are going to be 65 or over on the day of your race)

  2. Take part in an organised 5K event – it must be one that publishes results which can be viewed by the results co-ordinator (Andy Bashford). This could include events such as Parkrun (free to everyone every Saturday morning at many venues nationwide) or an organised 5K race (of which there are many across the country – usually on Sunday mornings)

  3. Your event must take place between Saturday 5 October and Sunday 3 November and you must have entered on HASSRA Live before your event. This is 5 week-ends to choose from, giving you plenty of opportunities

On completion of your event you will send in your result (showing the name and date of your event and your time taken, in minutes and seconds) – by email to andybashford71@gmail.com. Results must be sent in by midnight on 5 November or they will NOT count!

Prizes will be awarded for the two fastest times for Male and for Female plus the fastest time for Veteran Male for Veteran Female. There will also be team prizes awarded for the fastest Teams (Teams will be the fastest 3 members from the same HASSRA Club – Clubs can have more than one team if sufficient members enter).

Finally, as an incentive to the “less fast” amongst us, there will be a number of “spot” prizes drawn at random from the entrants who have not already won a prize. So, again, “you have to be in it to win it!”

By entering, you will be consenting to your name being published in the on-line results. If you do not agree to this then please make this clear when submitting your result
